Designed by Jonathan Spragg, the Essex Spa enclosure is the epitome of understated elegance and style. It is a ten-sided building that measures about 14' across (diameter). It may be customized to meet your tastes and precise requirements . The Essex will make a grand statement to your sense of panache and your appreciation of fine design, craftsmanship, and functionality.
The Essex offers an ideal solution to whatever space that you might have. Its
octagonal shape permits placement at the edge or center of the yard or garden.
The roofline creates an attractive
silhouette that is complemented by detail
flowing join lines at the finial. The availability of a range of three dimensional
ornaments such as the classical ball and spike add to the harmony and detail.
Soffits with rounded arched supports give further decorative detail.
The attention to details in the design produces a structure that does not require internal struts or guy rods. This means that a clean space results for fine decorative features such as ceilings that can follow the roofline. Elegant domed and scalloped moldings can be used to enhance the interior décor and contribute to the design theme. Interior molding may be one of several hardwood species including cherry, oak, mahogany, cedar, etc. per customer specifications.
A special yacht-like quality composite material is used for the scallop shaped roof tiles, that along with patented upright joints, give excellent weather resistance. The roof's resin materials have very high long term performance. The roof material will also allow lichens and mosses to grow naturally over time if that effect is desired.
The windows and doors are generous and allow plenty of light and ventilation. They contain solid wood mullions (bars) that are sealed between dual interior and exterior panes. This allows ease of maintenance and achieves a very desirable and clean architectural effect. Round windows are available. The windows may be fitted with mirrored glass. Plain glass is also available.
The building's exterior may be finished using aromatic Western Red Cedar or a tough vinyl clad composite siding material. All exterior trim is cedar, mahogany, or teak per customer's specification.
The structure should be located and assembled as prescribed by local codes.
Supplied as wall and roof panels, the assembly of an Essex Spa Enclosure is somewhat difficult, but can be completed by two or three persons with good carpentry and building skills in about thirty hours. Utilities, insulation, painting and staining, and other services are available at extra cost.
